Handira, or the Moroccan Wedding Blanket, is a handmade blanket/rug by women from villages in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. It was initially used as a blanket inspired by the Bride's wedding dress. It is also given as a gift to the bride to wish for happiness, wealth, and fertility. Each Handira is a one-of-a-kind including handwoven wool, clusters of shiny metal sequins, tufts of billowing cotton, and artfully woven kilim Berber bands. • Handwoven using traditional looms by a Moroccan cooperative of women,
• Condition: New rug, cleaned and inspected,
• Dimensions: 111 cm x 59 cm without the fringes,
• Care: While we Recommend DRY CLEANING, it is also possible to wash by hand, or very gentle machine wash with similar colors.
• Recommendation: We recommend using a rubber mat under the rug to prevent it from slipping.
